Customer Reviews

Excellent for camping in FloridaBought this sleeping bag for my 11 year old who was scheduled to go on a Boy Scout camping trip within a few days and we needed something in a hurry. He said it was fairly cold out that weekend and this sleeping bag kept him plenty warm and the zipper worked perfectly. He is fairly tall for his age (5'3) and we were worried it would be too small, but he said it was just fine. 4Great for kidsWe got two of these for our 7 year old and 5 year old daughters to use for camping.Pros:1. The color is even better in person. Super bright and colorful. It's also reversible.2. The bag is a great size. I'm not good at rolling things up to fit back into the carry bag, but I was able to easily do it with this sleeping bag.3. The filling seems very comfy to me. The girls thought so too. It should keep them warm on cooler evenings and be okay to use on warmer nights.4. The zipper seems to be a good quality and easily manipulated by kids.5. The width and length is perect for the age range of our girls. Our 5 year old is small for her age and our 7 year old is bigger for her age.. so maybe 3-8 is a good range for other kids. Im really glad I didn't buy this one for our 10 and 12 year olds, as they would definitely be too long.Cons:1. Im not a big fan of the strings that tie the sleeping bag closed. I wish they were velcro straps... but since the sleeping bag easily fits back in its carry bag, it's not that big of a deal.2. Both the inside and outside are the slippery matrial. The girls were sliding around quite a bit while getting in and out of it. Thankfully, the sides of their cot go up a bit so they shouldn't slide off their cot at night.Overall, I am super happy with this purchase. We went ahead and bought another design in this same sleeping bag for our 5 year old son. 5Absolutely WRONG COLOR!?Just received the sleeping bag this afternoon. After VERY carefully tearing off the white tag on the outside to expand the carry bag--I was afraid it would rip open at the seams--I took out the sleeping bag and...found it to be dark GREEN on the outside and navy/green/grey camouflage pattern on the inside?? We had ordered the BLUE (looked like a shade of teal) with blues/white interior. I was confused at first, thinking I was remembering incorrectly what color I had ordered. I went back on-line: what I received was not even a choice offered! There was a pink, and a neon yellow, and the BLUE one my daughter had selected. Really bizarre that we were sent this green one! Thankfully, my daughter is okay with these colors and said it was comfy when she crawled inside. We've yet to run it through the wash and see how the sleeping bag fares when she takes it on her classroom's upcoming overnight trip later this month. I agree with other reviewers who felt the carry bag was cheaply made--I could totally see the red cords ripping out and/or the bag just tearing open at the seams with the pressure of stuffing the sleeping bag into it repeatedly. Hopefully, this sleeping bag will perform satisfactorily--we'll see. 4Bag seems ok. Stuff sack is terribly designed. This is a new purchase, so I don't have much to say one way or another about the bag yet. I do wish it wasn't such a slippery material, which makes it harder to roll up, but otherwise it seems like a nice bag that's a good size for my child and that will serve its purpose. What I can comment on already is how terrible the design of the stuff sack is! It comes with this big white tag attached to two seams that run the full length of the sack, with instructions printed on it to tear off the tag to expand the sack. The reason you need to expand the diameter of the sack is that the big white tag keeps the bag very small for compression purposes for shipping from the factory, but it's too small for a human being to reasonably be able to put the sleeping back back into. So, I VERY CAREFULLY tore off the tag on both sides. It looks TERRIBLE because little bits of the white tag get left behind and are sticking out all along the seam. But what's worse is, despite the extreme care I took when tearing off the tag, about 4 inches of the sack's seam ripped out along with the tag. So now I'm facing having to drag out my sewing machine to try to fix a brand new product, just to make it useable! Shame on you for such horrid stuff sack design, Coleman! Who thought this tear-off tag compression trick was a good idea? Whoever it is needs to go back to product design school, because this design was a great big failure. 3Daughter loved Mother approved. This sleeping bag is wonderful for my 8 year old daughter. It's durable and adorable. Long enough for her (she is taller than the average 8 year old) she can fit her whole body in up to her shoulders and still has room left at her feet. It's good material not the cheap flimsy stuff. There is a pocket on the inside of the sleeping bag for a flashlight so it's easily accessible to the kiddos no searching for a light in the dark. I also love the bag it comes sealed tight making you wonder how your ever going to get it back in but on the side of the bag there is an instruction panel that is removeable to expand the bag about 3to 4 more inches making it easy to get back in the bag. I love this sleeping bag and with its beautiful colors and cute design so does my daughter. 5Fun and Good QualityMy 7 year old daughter really likes this sleeping bag, and the glow in the dark feature is just icing on the cake. It's a high quality sleeping bag that I'm sure will last quite some time, especially since there is plenty of room for her to grow without being huge. Washes up very nicely, too. She's taken it on one overnight camping trip and stayed warm in 50 degree temps. She's also used it as a mattress with a sheet on top and was comfortable. My only complaint is it's a pain in the butt to fold up and fit back into the bag. If I tie it up and leave it out of the storage bag then the sleeping bag slips out of the ties. 4Good value for a youth sleeping bagWe bought this sleeping bag when our older daughter was 5 and needed a sleeping bag for Girl Scout camping trips. She chose this sleeping bag after a quick Amazon search and has used it for nearly 2 years for both cabin and tent camping between late spring and mid-fall. She particularly likes the interior pocket so she can't lose her flashlight, as well as the zipper being "very easy" to use. She finds it warm and comfortable. The outer layer of the bag is nylon, both in and out; while I personally prefer a soft cloth interior, the nylon doesn't seem to bother the kiddo in the slightest. She's now a tall 7 year old and we're expecting this sleeping bag to last her until she's at least 10ish.Note that like any other glow-in-the-dark textile, the printed bugs on the outside of the sleeping bag need exposure to light for a period of time to glow with any intensity. If the bag is taken right out of the stuff sack, you won't see much. The carrying sack has a shoulder strap, which is nice for a child to have when carrying their bag and other gear. However, the bag is on the small side and she usually needs help from an older scout to get the sleeping bag rolled, tied, and back in the sack. I knocked one point off because I think elastic loops are a better choice for a youth sleeping bag than corded ties. She likes this sleeping bag so much that we got the almost-identical Coleman Plum Fun 45 Youth Sleeping Bag for our younger daughter, who will be starting Girl Scouts this fall. 4Very nice bags in terms of usability and warmth; a bit lacking in durability. We bought these a couple years ago to use for a couple of kids for camping (because the toy store sleeping bags just don't offer enough warmth or ruggedness for the "real thing" in terms of use). But there have been some problems.First, the good:- Very, very warm, absolutely up to the assigned temperature rating- Quite roomy for the price- Materials are nice and feel good against the skin while being tough enough for outdoor use- Pockets are a nice touch- Zippers are easy to operate at firstNow, the bad:- Zippers broke within the first year- Strings to tie them also tore right off of the bottoms of the bag within the first year (not well attached)- As a result, we're now trying to decide whether to replace with same or to look elsewhereWe really do like the basic bags and features. While they were in one piece, they worked very well and the kids liked them a lot.And while it's fair to point out that they were used under very different conditions, it's also fair to point out that the toy store sleeping bags that aren't warm enough for camping are still in one piece several years later, while these basically lasted one season and several camping trips.I don't expect miracles for this price, hence four stars, but a little more durability and care in assembly and materials selection would have taken us to five stars. We'll probably replace with same, as I'm not sure there's anything better, on balance, in this price range. But I admit that I will secretly grumble just a bit at having to buy the same bags again so soon. 5Realistically not very ComfyI think this review has to be taken with a grain of salt. I am an outdoor gear reviewer and I know what I was purchasing here when I bought it for my nephew. It's a budget bag so I didn't expect a whole lot. I wanted him to have something to cuddle in to for his sleepovers with friends. The material on the inside of the bag did not feel very soft and the sleeping bag was extremely hard to roll up and get back in the bag, making it not so kid friendly at all. For what it is, it's fine though. 3My four year old loves this thick warm bag!My 4 yo absolutely loves this sleeping bag! It is very very sturdy and well made. We pur hased this for a family camping trip and my 4 yo has been using it every night for almost a month in his bed! I would repurchase this again in a heartbeat. I have washed and dryed this several times at home now and it's held up really well. I have no complaints at all 5
