Customer Reviews

Four StarsI have a small head but for most men it will fit well also very comfy4It might fit around your ankleIf you're trying to reshape your head into something more cylindrical, this is for you. If you're looking for a thunder sweater for your nervous ferret, this is for you. However, if you're happy with the shape of your head and don't have a nervous ferret, look elsewhere.1Great for outdoor excercise in cold weather.I purchased this gaiter to use for outdoors excercise (walking/running) in cold weather. Due to my asthma, which can sometimes be triggered by breathing cold air, I was looking for something that is comfortably warm but not suffocating and could cover my mouth & nose while still protecting my neck. I also need to be able to breathe through it while running. This gaiter checked off all the boxes. It is the most comfortable gaiter I have ever used for running, and stays in place over my nose very well with only occasional adjustment. It also seems to be well made compared to other gaiters I have had. I liked it well enough to purchase a second one for more casual wear.To confirm for those who have similar requirements, I am a 6'2", 195 lb. male, and this gaiter streches over my nose and partially over my ears. I wear a knit hat as well, which covers the rest of my ears. I would guess this gaiter is somewhere in the middle on the warmth scale, which is what I was looking for. I have hand washed both gaiters muliple times now (by hand in lukewarm water) and they have held their shape well.I have a fairly expensive, very warm balaclava, but I now prefer my Carhart gaiter with knit cap combination for overall comfort.5GREAT ITEM FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TO BE OUT IN COLD WEATHER FOR PROLONGED PERIODSI bought two of these but one of them is going to be a Christmas present for the War Department so everyone please keep quiet. These things are GREAT. They are warm, soft and fit perfectly. I had an early morning Patriot Guard mission the other day and when I left home on the motorcycle it was 28 degrees. I wore one of these. It kept my neck and lower face comfortable for the 35 miles I had to ride to get to our international airport. I did have some trouble initially with my glasses fogging up but I found that by adjusting this neck gaiter I could keep that from happening. If you keep the top of it just below your nose and breathe through your nose then your glasses won't fog up.These things aren't particularly bulky so one of them can be kept in the pocket of your jacket for when it's needed. The only true problem I had was that this gaiter does add a little bulk to your chin consequently you'll need to adjust the helmet's chinstrap accordingly. If you're not using this on a motorcycle then no problem. I run tennis tournaments for a living. When we start doing tournaments again in January I plan on wearing this gaiter during the really cold mornings and evenings as necessary. In short this gaiter is great and inexpensive solution for prolonged outdoor activities when the weather is really cold. If I lost this item I would buy another one in a heartbeat.5Use instead of a scarf.Excellent - great if you spend any time outdoors. In cold weather, carry this and your gloves in your jacket pocket. You still need a hat - I suggest pairing a cap with a bill to shade your eyes and a flap that can be pulled down to cover the tops of your ears (I have two fleece caps like this from LL Bean). You will be much more comfortable with these accessories. You can pull this gaiter up to cover your nose, mouth and most of your ears completely. I've found that my eyeglasses steam up from my breath deflected by the gaiter, but I can see well enough for everything but reading without them - so I just take them off until indoors. Thanks to Glenn Reynolds for recommending this cold-weather accessory.55 neck and this fits me just fine. I don't feel like I'm being choked at ...This Carhartt neck gaiter is a very functional piece of gear. It's very thick and not only helps keep your neck warm but helps to keep the cold breeze from creeping down your neck. I don't understand the comments about this being too small. I am an adult with a 16.5 neck and this fits me just fine. I don't feel like I'm being choked at all. With that said, it's also possible that what constitutes "tightness," or worse, "choking" that people complain about is a subjective experience. Personally, I think it's a perfect fit for me.Also, bear in mind this gaiter should break in and stretch over time. It feels like a very high quality piece of gear - like a Carhartt should be. No complaints at all. I'm very happy with it.5Great scarf alternative that fits nicely in your coat pocketIt is a very nice compact alternative to a scarf, which I like. I mainly got it for the times I'll be out in the cold walking for several blocks, waiting in line, etc., I like the option of putting it over my nose, which warms the air before you breathe it and prevents, in my case, and many others I suppose, having a runny nose. It is also warm and stays over your ears, should you want it to.2 things I found odd. One is the tag on the inside. It has the care instructions, material it's made of, etc. It's just big and feels terrible against the skin in certain positions. I wouldn't just rip it off, since it might pull out the threads in the seam. I could cut it very close, but I fear it will make it more jagged and uncomfortable. So I just leave it. Perhaps it would have been better placed on the outside, or somehow printed on the material, similar to tag-less t shirts. The second thing is that if you hold it / wear it so the brand and letters are facing "up" (not upside down), there is a kinda thick band on the bottom, like a sewn in seam. If you enlarge the picture you can see it. I don't notice that part sitting at the base of my neck, on top of my shirt. So I wear it upside down, where that thick "band" or seam sits atop the bridge of my nose. Gives it more "grip", and I feel it is more comfortable. They should just put that "seam" on both ends. All being said, it's a great product for a good price, worthy of 4 out of 5 stars.4so I'm always having to wear neck warmers when the weather turns cool. I've tried several different brandsMy neck is very sensitive to the cold, and very few coats have collars that flip up high enough to act as built-in neck warmers, so I'm always having to wear neck warmers when the weather turns cool.I've tried several different brands, and so far this is the best neck warmer I've found for my needs. I've bought several and put one in a pocket of each of my winter coats. The fleece is tightly knit and relatively thick, so it's pretty warm. Wind can still get through it, but most of the time it's OK. It is not "fuzzy" (e.g. like Turtle Fur products) so does not pick up flecks of stuff very much. You can wear it doubled over, or unfold it and bring it up to cover your nose. It has enough Spandex that it stretches (with modest effort) to fit down over your head, then shrinks back to a reasonable size for your neck.Other products I've tried have problems this product doesn't. For example:o Can't stretch it big enough to fit over my head without enormous effort.o Is so wide that it fits easily over my head but then leaves a huge gap around my neck.o Is so fuzzy that it picks up a lot of junk that is hard to pick out of it.o Is so thin it gives little warmth.o Is so thick that I can only wear it in severe cold.o Is so short that I can't pull it up over my nose.o Is so tall that it's always pushing my chin up.o etc.So until I find something better, this is the neck warmer I'll be using.5Look out! Sounds great, but turns into a choker.I loved the review by the gentleman that listed the different problems with similar products. I also thought because this is from Carhartt it would have to be what I needed to keep my neck warm.Unfortunately, pulling it over my head feels like putting on a wetsuit and then it's so tight that it bunches up like a rubberband around my neck. It doesnt reach the top of my sweatshirt and it's too tight to go over my nose without squashing it against my face. So, the hunt continues...I think I'll try something knitted.1This is the best of four neck warmers I bought.I recently bought four different neck warmers, and this Carhartt neck warmer is the best. It's easy and comfortable to use, and it provides good protection for your neck and lower face. I normally pull it up to just below my mouth. It can also be used when pulled up to just below my nose, but then it's not easy to breath through the fabric using my mouth. If I pull it over my nose, my eyeglasses quickly become fogged. I've worn it at least a dozen times, and there has been no pilling of the cloth. This is a very nice neck warmer, and I might buy another one so I have one for a backup. It is so comfortable that it can be worn in the house if you are chilly. You can easily and comfortably pull it down or fold it down below your chin, so you don't have to take it off in a store or restaurant.5
